WRIGHTSVILLE – Sen. Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York) will host a free license plate replacement event on Wednesday, Aug. 13, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Wrightsville Elementary School, located at 320 Chestnut St. in Wrightsville.
The event offers citizens a convenient opportunity to have their license plates inspected by local law enforcement officers. Plates that are peeling, blistering, fading, or discolored may qualify for a free replacement under PennDOT guidelines.
“My goal is to make the replacement process as simple and accessible as possible,” Phillips-Hill said. “If your plate is hard to read, we’ll help you get a new one, right here in your own community.”
Phillips-Hill’s team will assist attendees in completing all necessary PennDOT forms on-site. No mailing is required; her team will submit the paperwork on your behalf.
Key details:
- Personalized plates will be replaced with the same configuration at no cost.
- Specialty plates (e.g., Wildlife Resource or alumni plates) will be replaced with the same plate unless discontinued. Discontinued plates (e.g., owl or otter designs) will be replaced with a standard plate.
- Standard plate holders who wish to retain their existing number must apply and pay for a personalized plate. This is the only case where a fee applies.
Attendees must bring:
- A valid driver’s license.
- Their current vehicle registration.
- If more than one name appears on the registration, each individual must be present with their own ID to complete the process.
Phillips-Hill added a reminder that the old blue, white, and yellow plate has officially been phased out and the Let Freedom Ring plate is the new standard plate.
This event is open to all citizens. For questions, contact Phillips-Hill’s office at 717-741-4648.
