HARRISBURG – Sen. Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York) released the following statement in response to Gov. Josh Shapiro’s budget proposal unveiled today to a joint session of the General Assembly:
“Families across Southern York County are making tough choices, cutting unnecessary expenses, planning ahead, and making every dollar count. Meanwhile, Gov. Shapiro’s budget proposes a 7.5 % spending increase, far beyond inflation, with no realistic plan to pay for it. With Washington cutting off the blank checks, Harrisburg cannot keep pretending money is endless. Taxpayers made it clear. They do not want more wasteful government spending.
“Pennsylvania families cannot afford to spend beyond their means and their government should not either. It is time for a realistic and responsible budget that secures our future.”
