
SPRINGFIELD TWP – Sen. Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York) is inviting local citizens to safely dispose of sensitive documents and unused medications at her Community Shredding and Drug Take Back Event on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Pennsylvania State Police Barracks in Springfield Township, located at 101 N. Main Street, York, PA 17403.
The event is being held in partnership with the Pennsylvania State Police and aims to promote public safety and prevent prescription drug misuse and identity theft.
“After several local citizens raised the issue during my recent ‘Scam Jam’ event with the Department of Banking and Securities and state and local law enforcement partners, I am pleased to host this event with our State Police to provide more resources to our neighbors. This event will provide a responsible and convenient way for citizens to dispose of unused prescription drugs and clean out old files.”
Attendees are asked to only bring acceptable items for shredding including:
- White/colored paper
- Checks
- Envelopes
- Fax paper
- File folders
- Green bar
- Staples and paper clips are okay with papers
The following items will not be accepted:
- Binder clips
- Three-ring binders
- Hard drives
- X-Rays/microfiche
- CDs and DVDs
- Electronics/batteries
- Syringes/medical waste
- Glass/cans
- Cardboard/Styrofoam
- Ink cartridges/toner
- Food and trash
- Hardback books
