YORK COUNTY – Sen. Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York) announced today that more than $2.1 million in state funding from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) has been awarded to the Fire Chiefs’ and Fire Fighters’ Association of York County for the construction of a new training facility at the York County Public Safety Training Center. This state-of-the-art facility in Manchester Township will replace two older buildings, offering modern, comprehensive spaces dedicated to the training and preparedness of York County’s fire and emergency personnel.
“Our firefighters and emergency responders face life-threatening situations every day, and they deserve the very best resources and training we can offer,” Phillips-Hill said. “This new facility will help equip our first responders all across the county with the skills and experience they need to respond effectively, protect our communities, and save lives. I am proud to have secured this much-needed funding that will bolster training for our brave men and women who serve as firefighters all across York County.”
The planned 150′ x 60′, two-story building will feature space on the first floor for fire apparatus, equipment storage, and decontamination, while the second floor will house administrative offices, classrooms with flexible configurations, and locker rooms with showers. Additionally, the building will be equipped with a fire sprinkler system and a large-capacity elevator to improve accessibility and transport of equipment.
“We are extremely grateful to Governor Shapiro for awarding us this grant to allow us the ability to expand your facility to meet today’s training needs of your first responders, to Senator Philips-Hill for her support on this project and continued support of emergency services throughout York County, and to everyone that has continued to support the York County Public Safety Training Center (YCPSTC) and all the first responders throughout York County,” Chad Deardorff, president of the Fire Chiefs’ and Fire Fighters’ Association of York County said. “This new addition to the YCPSTC will allow us to expand our capabilities to ensure all emergency services disciplines (Fire, EMS, & Law Enforcement) throughout York County will have a facility that meets every disciplines training needs. The Board of Governor’s and I would like to thank all those who continue to support the YCPSTC and their first responders.”
