In this update:
Re-elected as Majority Caucus Chair for 2025-26 Legislative SessionVoters returned a clear and convincing 28-22 Republican majority to the state Senate for the 2025-26 legislative session. All Republican incumbents were re-elected and two new Republican senators are on the way to Harrisburg, including Dawn Keefer from northern York County. To drive priorities of protecting jobs, empowering families, and defending freedoms, Senate Republicans re-elected our leadership team for the upcoming session. I’m honored to share that my colleagues have re-elected me to serve as the majority caucus chair of the Senate Republican Caucus for the 2025-26 legislative session. This role allows me to continue presiding over caucus meetings, guiding our discussions on legislation and amendments that shape the Senate’s agenda. Working alongside Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman and Senate Majority Whip Ryan Aument, I’ll help coordinate our voting calendar and focus on advancing the priorities that matter most to Pennsylvanians. Together, we are committed to a transparent and accountable government that supports families, strengthens communities, and builds a brighter future for our Commonwealth. I’m grateful for the trust my colleagues have placed in me, and I’ll continue to use this position to better serve YOU as YOUR state senator. You can learn more here. Celebrating Veterans All Around York CountyThis Veterans Day weekend, I had the honor of attending several events to recognize and celebrate our local heroes. My weekend began with a memorable bus trip send-off breakfast, organized by Bailey Coach, that sent 350 Veterans and their guests to the National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. World War II Veteran Quentin Stambaugh shared his remarkable experiences from 39 combat missions, making the event even more impactful. You can find more photos here. At the York County Expo Center, more than 1,000 Veterans, their families, and community members came together for the York County Veterans Day Celebration and Breakfast. My colleague, Sen. Devlin Robinson, who is a Marine Corps Veteran, inspired us all with his powerful keynote address. Marine Veteran Dean R. Vanzanardi was recognized with the George H. Eyler Veterans Meritorious Service Award for his commitment to service. You can find more photos from the breakfast here. Additionally, we celebrated the Marine Corps’ 249th Birthday with the First Capitol Detachment #521, Marine Corps League in York. Sen. Robinson joined again as the guest of honor, participating in the traditional cake-cutting ceremony with the oldest and youngest Marines. The ceremony served as a reminder of the Marines’ unbreakable brotherhood and dedication to our country. You can find photos from the evening here. To close the weekend, I joined the 11/11@7 Rally with the Exchange Club of Hanover and Hanover VFW Post 2506 to raise awareness for homeless Veterans. You can find more from that event here. Thank you to all who serve and to everyone who contributed to these events, helping us honor those who protect our freedoms! Dallastown Troop 43 Welcomes Two New Eagle ScoutsCongratulations to Chase Gundel and Harry Markey, Troop 43’s newest Eagle Scouts in Dallastown! For his Eagle Scout project, Chase Gundel, son of Brett and Julia Gundel, completed repairs and painting for the Pennsylvania 4-H York County Center. Harry Markey, son of Jacob and Angela Markey, contributed to his community by staining doors and painting rooms for a local Sunday school. It was an honor to present both young men with congratulatory citations from the Senate of Pennsylvania in recognition of their achievements. Well done, Chase and Harry! You can find more photos on my Instagram. Giving First Responders More SupportBeginning in December, a law passed by Senate Republicans will give first responders greater access to workers’ compensation benefits for a post-traumatic stress injury (PTSI). Firefighters, police officers, emergency medical technicians and paramedics will be entitled to benefits for psychological traumas resulting from their employment – even in the absence of physical injuries. To receive benefits, they need to be diagnosed by a licensed psychiatrist or psychologist. Previously, Pennsylvania law required a first responder to prove there were “objective abnormal working conditions” to establish a PTSI claim. This standard was often difficult to meet. Congratulations to Farmers Insurance and the K2C2 Agency on its grand opening! Being Prepared for Fall Driving HazardsFall brings different driving hazards, including wet leaves, fog, sun glare and frost. Drivers can use fall driving tips from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) to make their commutes safer. Extra caution is needed on roads covered with wet leaves, which can be as slippery as ice. When driving in fog, it’s best to use low-beam headlights to avoid the glare created by high beams. Morning frost and icy spots can cause issues as overnight temperatures drop toward freezing. Ice is more likely to form on bridges, overpasses and shaded areas. Pennsylvania drivers face the third-highest chance of being involved in an animal-related crash in the nation. To report a dead animal for removal from a state road, call the PennDOT at 1-800-FIX-ROAD. Call the Game Commission at 1-833-742-9453 for local roads.
