Podcast with Rep. Ryan on school property tax elimination efforts

My latest podcast features a conversation with Representative Frank Ryan (R-Lebanon) who is one of the strongest advocates of school property tax efforts in the House of Representatives.

You can listen to our conversation that runs approximately 18 minutes here.

This issue remains one of my top priorities in the Senate and I found my conversation with Representative Ryan to be encouraging given his unique background prior to being elected to the state House.

You can learn more about our discussion on this key issue here.

I hope you take a few minutes to listen to our update and as always, please let me know what you think of our conversation here.

You can subscribe to my podcast, Kristin’s Corner, to stay up-to-date on important state issues here.

House sends governor bill honoring fallen Marine from Dallastown

The House of Representatives unanimously approved legislation I sponsored that would designate the bridge carrying Iron Stone Hill Road (State Route 2087) over the Codorus Creek as the Sgt. Christopher M. Wrinkle and Tosca Memorial Bridge.

Sgt. Wrinkle graduated from Dallastown High School in 2001. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served as a Special Operations Multi-Purpose K9 Handler for the 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion, Marine Special Operations Company G and Marine Special Operations Team 8221 in Herat Province, Afghanistan.

He was deployed on July 1, 2011. He passed away on July 31, 2011 while trying to rescue his service dog, Tosca, from a barracks fire in Herat Province, Afghanistan.

It was Sgt. Wrinkle’s loyalty and courage that he showed in Afghanistan when he ran into a barracks fire to rescue his service dog, Tosca, in a heroic act, laying down his life for his partner, that we commend, honor and remember.

The legislation now heads to the governor’s desk for his signature.

Tech CEOs outline strengths and opportunities for growth in York County

I recently participated in a wide-ranging roundtable discussion with Rich Wurzbach of MRG Laboratories, Mark Zeleznock of Dataforma, Inc., and Matt Bloom of CRIMEWATCH PA.

Joining me were Representatives Seth Grove, Mike Jones, Kate Klunk and several stakeholders. The event took place at J.D. Brown Center for Entrepreneurship, which is on the campus of York College. The Center is home to a business incubator.

I am extremely grateful for the time Rich, Mark and Matt provided us to have an engaging discussion on the future and focus of York County as it relates to workforce development and job growth with tech careers.

You can watch my recap of our event here.

Touring Wrightsville with York County Economic Alliance

On Tuesday, I joined the team of the York County Economic Alliance for their municipal highlight series that toured Wrightsville.

We had a very good dialogue on local issues impacting the borough, as well as residents and the business community. We toured several small businesses and manufacturer DONSCO as part of our tour.
