Phillips-Hill receives committee assignments for new legislative session

Opportunity to play major role in critical policy matters affecting York Countians

HARRISBURG – Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman (R-Centre/Huntingdon/Juniata/Mifflin) appointed Senator Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York) today to serve on five committees, as well as chair the Senate Communications and Technology Committee.

Phillips-Hill was named the Vice Chair of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, and will be a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee, the Senate Finance Committee and the Senate State Government Committee.

“This is an amazing opportunity to impact public policy that is of great importance to the residents of the 28th Senatorial District,” Phillips-Hill said. “These committees will be very active in addressing challenges facing our state’s and county’s largest industry (Agriculture and Rural Affairs), our state budgetary challenges (Appropriations), affordable healthcare (Banking and Insurance), school property tax elimination (Finance) and election reforms (State Government).”

Earlier this week, Phillips-Hill announced she would continue to chair the Senate Communications and Technology Committee, which led the effort to move legislation to address the state’s digital divide.

The Senate is scheduled to reconvene on Monday, January 25 at 1 p.m.
