YORK – Senator Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York) is offering assistance to eligible seniors and disabled individuals with this year’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate program.
The Property Tax/Rent Rebate program provides rebates on property taxes or rent paid by senior citizens and disabled individuals in 2019. In order to be eligible, applicants must meet certain income requirements and be a Pennsylvania resident 65 years of age or older, a widow or widower age 50 or older, or a permanently disabled individual age 18 or older.
The household income limits and maximum rebate amounts for homeowners are:
- $0 to $8,000 — $650 rebate
- $8,001 to $15,000 — $500 rebate
- $15,001 to $18,000 — $300 rebate
- $18,001 to $35,000 — $250 rebate
The household income limits and maximum rebate amounts for renters are:
- $0 to $8,000 — $650 rebate
- $8,001 to $15,000 — $500 rebate
In addition to having applications available at her office at 6872 Susquehanna Trail South in Springfield Township, Phillips-Hill is partnering with state representatives to meet with individuals to assist with their applications:
- February 25 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Windy Hill Senior Center at 1472 Roths Church Road in Spring Grove with Representative Seth Grove.
- March 4 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at South Central Senior Center at 150 Main Street in New Freedom with Representative Kate Klunk.
- March 11 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Stewartstown Senior Center at 26 S. Main Street in Stewartstown with Representative Mike Jones.
- March 16 from 9 am. – 3 p.m. at the Delta Senior Center at 5 Pendyrus Street in Delta with Representative Stan Saylor.
Applications are also available at Phillips-Hill’s mobile offices, which are as follows:
- First Thursday of every month from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Citizens Volunteer Fire Company at 171 S. Market Street in Fawn Grove.
- Second Thursday of every month from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the York County Economic Alliance at 144 Roosevelt Avenue in York.
- Third Thursday of every month from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Manchester Township Office Building at 3200 Farmtrail Road in Manchester Township.
Funding for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program comes from the Pennsylvania Lottery and revenue generated from slot machines.
The deadline to apply for a rebate is June 30, 2020.
